TCF Plans To Leave Its Namesake Mpls. Tower

TCF Financial Corporation is leaving its namesake tower in downtown Minneapolis as part of plans to move 1,500 of its workers to its new Plymouth office park, according to the Star Tribune.
 
The Wayzata-based bank reportedly told its employees about the move Monday and said the new Plymouth Corporate Center will be a “significant upgrade in the quality of workspace.”
 
Vice Chairman Tom Jasper told the Star Tribune that the consolidation, which will include moving employees from all over the state, will not reduce the company’s net Minnesota employee base of about 3,000.
 
The move will reportedly start in June with 200 employees relocating from a TCF customer service center in Brooklyn Center. Then in 2015, 1,150 employees from the TCF Tower and the TCF Bank Building—on 8th Street and Marquette Avenue in Minneapolis—will relocate to Plymouth. Along with an additional 110 employees from a small office in Wayzata, 100 employees from a consumer loan operation in St. Paul, 25 people from a branch in Ridgedale, and four people from a Fridley warehouse will also make the move, according to the Star Tribune.
 
The new office takes up 330,000 square feet in a building on 1405 Xenium Lane. According to the Minneapolis newspaper, the new office will have an on-site fitness center and a bordering daycare business.
 
After the move, the IDS skyway branch will be TCF’s last branch in downtown Minneapolis.
