“Hennepin Curve” Project Near Loring Park Lands Tenants

New details surfaced Tuesday about the rehabilitation of buildings near Minneapolis’ Loring Park—and plans call for new tenants in street-level storefronts and the conversion of a former hotel into residential units.

The buildings, located across the street from the Basilica of St. Mary, are being marketed as “Hennepin Curve.”

Minneapolis-based The Ackerberg Group, which marketed the retail portions of the project, said Tuesday that it has landed two new retail tenants.

A&bé, a bridal boutique that is new to the Twin Cities, signed a five-year lease for 3,086 square feet at 1605 Hennepin Avenue. The build-out of that space will begin in August, and the store is expected to open in September. According to The Ackerberg Group, A&bé is an independently owned “high bridal boutique” based in Denver. In fact, the new Hennepin Avenue location marks its first expansion.

“The owners approach the bridal industry with their own interpretation of the neo-wedding, showcasing a curated catalog of designers that share the company’s vision to provide ‘bohemian, vintage, and romantically inspired wedding gowns’ at approachable prices,” The Ackerberg Group said.

In the two stories above the A&bé space resides the former Thompson Hotel. The property’s owner, an entity called LL, LLC, plans to renovate those upper levels into housing units, according to The Ackerberg Group.

RE/MAX Results, meanwhile, signed a 10-year lease for 6,874 square feet on the first floor and lower-level space of the adjacent building at 1609 Hennepin Avenue, also part of the Hennepin Curve project.

The Ackerberg Group, a privately held real estate development, investment and management company, recently purchased and is renovating Uptown Minneapolis' Calhoun Square.
