Edina Realty Names New CEO, Replacing Bob Peltier

Bob Peltier, who began his real estate career in 1978 and was appointed CEO of Edina Realty Home Services in 2009, is stepping down but will remain chairman emeritus; Greg Mason is the company's new leader.

Edina Realty Home Services said this week that Greg Mason has been appointed CEO, succeeding Bob Peltier, who has transitioned to the role of chairman emeritus.

Edina Realty has about 60 real estate offices throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin and closed roughly 31,500 real estate deals worth more than $7.2 billion last year.

It is part of a larger, fast-growing network of real estate companies owned by Minneapolis-based HomeServices of America—which is an affiliate of Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway.

Peltier entered the real estate business in 1978 and worked in multiple leadership positions before becoming president and CEO of Edina Realty Home Services in 2009, one year after he reportedly suffered a stroke. His brother, Ron Peltier, is the CEO of HomeServices of America.

“I am extremely proud of everyone at Edina Realty and what we have accomplished,” Bob Peltier said in a statement. “Greg is extraordinarily well-qualified to serve as CEO and under his leadership, coupled with our remarkable agents and management team, Edina Realty is poised for continued growth and success.”

Mason joined Edina Realty Home Services in 1986 and served as corporate legal counsel, a role in which he helped expand the business into new markets. In 1997, he was named president of Edina Realty Title, and he also served as managing director of title services for HomeServices of America.

“I look forward to leading Edina Realty to its next stage of growth and performance, supported by our world class management team,” Mason said in a statement.

Homeservices of America has been on an acquisition spree, and it also recently rolled out a new Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices brand.

Ron Peltier was inducted into Twin Cities BusinessMinnesota Business Hall of Fame last summer. Bob Peltier introduced his brother during the awards ceremony. See a video of the two brothers speak below.
