Blu Dot To Open Warehouse In Otsego Business Park

An adjacent building will be able to accommodate further expansion.

Otsego’s Gateway North Business Center will add another new tenant next spring when Blu Dot, a Minneapolis-based home furnishings designer, is scheduled to open a more than 150,000-square-foot warehouse.

The Twin Cities office of Indianapolis-based Duke Realty Corporation today announced a long-term lease with Blu Dot for a build-to-suit warehouse in the business center, with Blu Dot anticipating to move in by next spring. However, the company declined to disclose the lease’s terms.

This is the third such lease signed by Duke Realty this year: Ruan, a Des Moines-based transportation management agency, is expected to move into its space by Nov. 1, and Room & Board, another Minneapolis-based home furnishings retailer, is slated to open its warehouse by February 2015.

Blu Dot’s new warehouse will also be adjacent to a parcel that can accommodate a 116,000-square foot expansion, according to a news release. Maurice Blanks, Blu Dot’s co-founder and chief operating officer, said in a statement that Duke Realty’s proposal “was the best given our timeline, budget parameters and expansion plans.” Blanks could not be reached for further comment early Monday afternoon.

Gateway North is about 28 miles northwest of Blu Dot’s headquarters and is along the southeast corner of the intersection of Highway 101 and County Road 37. Duke Realty opened the business park in 2006 and has room for one more building of up to 260,000-square-feet
