Golden Valley Welcomes 6-Story Luxury Apt. Complex

A six-story, 260,000-square-foot luxury apartment building, dubbed “Arcata,” is coming to Golden Valley, Dallas-based real estate developer Trammell Crow Company said Monday.
 
The 165-unit luxury apartment complex will be built on two acres of land near The Shops at West End, adjacent to the Colonnade Office Tower and south of the Golden Hills Office Center on Golden Hills Drive.
 
Arcata will offer studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom residential units, as well as a “resort-style pool,” a fitness center, and a two-story, heated parking garage with 215 spaces, according to Trammell.
 
“Arcata provides an opportunity for residents to live in a centrally located, accessible, amenity-driven, and employment-rich suburb of Minneapolis-St. Paul,” Grady Hamilton, principal and head of Trammell Crow Company’s Midwest business unit, said.
 
Minneapolis-based ESG Architects will serve as lead architect for the project. Construction is scheduled to begin the third quarter of this year.
 
This is yet another in a long line of luxury apartments that have been sprouting up across the Twin Cities in recent years. Two luxury apartment complexes opened earlier this year, also near The Shops at West End: 36 Park Apartments opened in February and The Flats opened in May.
 
Before that, in early 2012, Flux Apartments—a $38 million, 216-unit development featuring resort-style residences—opened in Uptown Minneapolis in August. And 286 luxury apartments are part of a planned, $70 million complex called 222 Hennepin that broke ground in February 2012, located at the former Jaguar dealership site in downtown Minneapolis, expected to be completed this summer.
 
Several others are also in the works in downtown Minneapolis: Michigan-based Village Green Properties is renovating the historic Soo Line Building, at Fifth Street and Marquette Avenue, and turning it into a 250-unit upscale apartment building, expected to open late this summer. And Minnetonka-based Opus Development Corporation is constructing The Nic on Fifth, a $100 million, 26-story complex at Nicollet Mall and Fifth Street, expected to open the beginning of summer 2014.
